The heart of Southern Appalachian fly fishing lives in the small creeks tucked into the folds of the Blue Ridge and Smokies. Wild brook, brown, and rainbow trout that have never seen a hatchery truck, holding in pocket water and plunge pools of some of the most scenic water in the country. The vast majority of our North Carolina & Tennessee wade trips are built around this kind of water.
These trips are best for anglers comfortable with their cast. The space and water can be tight, the rhododendron hangs low, and short accurate presentations matter. The payoff is wild fish in country that feels a thousand miles from anywhere.

North Carolina's Delayed Harvest program stocks some of the most popular trout streams in the Southeast with high numbers of brown, rainbow, and brook trout from October through early June. During DH season, these streams hold more fish per mile than almost anywhere else in the state and they're right in our backyard.
This is our go-to wade trip for beginners, families, and folks who want to bend a rod without a long drive or a hard hike. Roadside access, forgiving water, and fish that eat readily. These trips are the perfect way to start fly fishing or shake off the rust on a return trip.

Southwest Virginia holds some of the most overlooked wild trout water in the Mid-Atlantic. We specialize in the upper Holston system and the wild creeks around Damascus. These are Blue-ribbon streams that stay cold and productive well into summer, with healthy populations of wild brown and rainbow trout.
This is a trip for experienced anglers. The water is tight, the presentations are technical, and the fish aren't forgiving of sloppy drifts. If you're comfortable with your cast and want a challenge on some different water, this is what we will reccomend.
Every Due South wade trip is tailored to your skill level and what's fishing best that day. Beginners welcome, experienced anglers challenged.
Our guides check flows, temps, and the weather the morning of your trip for the best plan & water to fish. We will also talk with you about what you have in mind, whether a wild stream or a productive run on the Watauga.
Never held a fly rod? We'll start you out with mini a casting clinic. Fished for 20 years? We'll shoot for some water you've never seen. Every trip is built around where you are as an angler and where you want to go.
Fly rods, quality reels and proven fly patterns for the water we're fishing is all included. Waders and boots provided. Bring your gear if you prefer, or use ours and see what we recommend back at the shop after.
